WANT TO FEEL LIKE A GODDESS IN THE OFFICE?

OfficeGoddess

Hello beautiful goddess

Did you know you spend approximately 18.5% of the total waking hours in your life working? Having been a corporate animal for over 15 years, I remember all too well what it felt like to sit behind a desk for 8-12 hours a day, under neon lights, with little to no time to nurture or restore myself. Towards the end of my office life, I began to weave in practices that helped to alleviate the stress and anxiety I was feeling every day.

Seeing as we spend so much of our time in this environment, I truly believe it's crucial to ensure that we are looking after ourselves within the four walls of the office. Down time on the weekend definitely helps our overall wellbeing, but in order to reduce blood pressure and cortisol levels in the body, it's what we do in our every day life that really counts. My invitation to you today is to, as much as you're able, create a mini sanctuary out of your desk space.

1. Plants and crystals

Having a plant at your desk, such as a Peace Lily, helps to improve the air quality, increases productivity and creativity plus reduce EMF's (Electro Magnetic Fields) emitted by your computer.

Crystals are not only beautiful to look at, but also help to reduce EMF's. I would suggest Clear Quartz or Fluoride. Placing them next to your computer or playing them whilst brainstorming will definitely have you feeling more holistic!

2. Oracle cards

Choosing an Oracle Card every morning is a beautiful practice to connect with any messages the Universe may be trying to send your way. I often shared the process with co-workers who loved to play with the cards as well!

3. Herbal tea

Try swapping your caffeine fix for a pot of herbal tea. The heath benefits are considerable, and there's a blend for almost any physical ailment. Rooibos assists in iron absorption, Peppermint is wonderful for the digestive system and Ginger helps to improve circulation. The process of making it can also be turned into a moving meditation.

4. 5 minute breaks

Place non-negotiable 5 minute breaks in your diary throughout the day. Get up and stretch your body, walk outside into the sunshine even if only to the street corner and back or send a surprise text message to a loved one.

5. Create a women's group

Create a network of women in the office to support one another in times of crisis and self doubt. You could meet up once a month to discuss any issues in the workplace, or even create a mailing list and share inspiring articles with each other. It's important that the purpose of the group be to nurture each other and grow collectively, rather than purely as a venting session.

What practices do you weave into your day to remain nourished at work? Which one of the tips above resonates with you? I would love to hear from you in the comments below. Please also share this post with any sister who would benefit from some soul reflection on self care in the workplace.

Thank you so much for reading this week’s Monday Meditation.

In love and gratitude
